Steve & Rachel

Picture

Steve first discovered Modern Jive in January 2004 after searching for the ultimate partner dance experience having previously enjoyed and tried dances such as Salsa, Tango and ballroom. It was the variety, sociality, freedom and wide ranging musicality that MJ allowed due to the wide range of music that was being played that Steve found most appealing and on that quiet monday night in London the journey started in earnest. Steve very quickly started attending up to 5 classes per week and after only 6 months, Steve became a CTA Modern Jive Teacher. The  journey developed further when in late 2006 when Steve attended Jive Addiction’s Famous Southport Weekender. It was here that he first saw West Coast Swing being performed both socially and competitively by the No1 ranked West Coast Swing couple in the world, immediately Steve was hooked and had found yet another dance that seemingly offered the same freedom and musicality as MJ, but this dance was different, the fact that it was smooth and seemed to allow the follower more time to be able to contribute took the dance journey was taking another step in a very exciting direction. Steve undertook intensive tuition from the best swing teachers in America and including a World Swing Dance Council accredited Teaching Training programme ran by the famous ‘Skippy Blair’. It was during this year of tuition that Steve began competing on the WCS circuit in America and in less than 3 years Steve has very quickly risen to the dizzy heights of now being the 2nd highest ranked Male Swing dancer in the UK and is one of only 3 leaders in Europe to compete at All Star Standard in America.  Steve continues to compete and win in numerous competitions worldwide and we're excited to have him and Rachel teach WCS for us at Warmwell in April.
