Matt & Sarah
Matt started dancing at the age of 11 when he accompanied his parents to a line dancing class. He quickly became hooked and danced 5 or 6 times a week throughout his teens. He helped his dad set up their own class and taught with him, including choreographing his own dances. He first tried modern jive when he was 19 and attended classes in Bristol. He entered his first competition just a year later and has not looked back! Sarah started ballet at the tender age of 2 and learnt ballet, character, tap and modern dancing up to the age of 17. Her first taste of modern jive was at a family wedding when she was 15 but she didn't make it to a lesson until October 2003, when she started at the University of Bristol and joined their LeRoc Society.
Matt and Sarah met at a freestyle in May 2007 and Matt started coming along to the University class. Sarah graduated in July 2007 but stayed in Bristol and in 2009 Sarah & Matt qualified as Modern Jive teachers through the LeRoc Federation. They now share the teaching at the University Society classes with another couple and aim to introduce a new generation to Modern Jive.
Matt and Sarah also both compete (although not with each other!) at MJ competitions. They are also both part of the 2 Hot Rhythm Team and they also run their own Bristol University Student Team too.
Insert by Nicky....their list of winning titles was so long I couldn't fit it all on here, but safe to say they are the cream of the crop when it comes to winning competitions!
