Amir Giles

Amir has danced Tango for the Princess Royal, performed with Nicole Cutler (of Strictly Come Dancing fame), with the London Swing Dance Society, the Royal Opera, English National Opera on film and on television. He is a graduate of the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance and has studied Tango around the world and in Buenos Aires.

He has been invited to teach and perform for almost every major modern jive organisation in the UK, and has taught at several of London's most important Tango schools, for the Royal Ballet School, as well as classes in Spain, Germany, France, the USA and Argentina.  As a swing dancer he has taught and performed for the London Swing Dance Society and West Coast Swing UK. 

In 2008, he choreographed and performed the Tango which can be seen advertising the Film 4 Argentinean Film festival.  With Tara Pilbrow he choreographed ‘Entangled’ which received great reviews at both The Robin Howard theatre in London and the New Wolsey in Ipswich.  In 2010 he was lead dancer and collaborator in Crazy Joanna with the Slanjayvah Danza Company in Yorkshire, and performer and assistant choreographer for Songs from a Hotel Bedroom, a musical theatre production with with performances at the Watford Palace and the Linbury Theatre at the Royal Opera House.   In 2010 he also choreographed the tango scenes for a production of Romeo and Juliet set in Buenos Aires, showed at the Cockpit Theatre in London, and in 2011 in a new music video for Boy George.   His freelance work as a dancer continues with projects and organisations including English National Opera, Watford Palace and Paramount Pictures.  He has recently performed at ENO as a dancer in ‘Death of Klinghoffer.’ He is currently producing a Research and Development supported by Arts Council England, Greenwich Dance Agency and Trinity Laban, more information for which can be found at www.amirgiles.com
